Entry 9: Shattered Heaven...

At last, every single path I took, through wilderness, through war, through the deepest pits of Nirn, to its highest peak,  has led me to this one moment... The moment I honor the name of the Dragonborn and cast this foul wyrm into the abyss!

It is the hour of reckoning and Fate has caught up with Alduin. He is, indeed, to end the world, Fate also decreed this, but not this day. I rallied Vahl and the Heroes of Sovngarde behind me. I knew Vahl was the current Dragonborn, but I had decided that I would spearhead this fight. And so I commanded her to strike Alduin from afar with her bow, and each arrow pierced Alduin as though it were anointed with Akatosh's rage. Felldir and Hakon did us the favor of pinning Alduin with Dragonrend as Gormlaith and I hacked away at the beast. It's been far too long since I had felt this... the feeling of my skin crawling and my blood boiling within my veins as I felled Dragons and cracked skulls... I was indeed a natural born Dragonslayer. Alduin had taken flight once again and unleashed Meteor Storm. The others and I adapted quickly and combined our Unrelenting Force shouts to divert the meteors, and as quickly as we had dealt with the meteors, we subdued Alduin once again with Dragonrend. We showed no mercy this time around. We didn't hesitate to use our most powerful shouts, shouts that would force mapmakers to redraw locations that the shout was used at. It wasn't long before the heavens were shattered by the effects of our Thu'um. Until at long last, we had Alduin at our mercy. I went to exchange words with the World Eater... Luck, he says, his defeat was the product of sloppiness on his part and luck on ours. Ha, I looked straight into his red eyes and said "Not luck, Fate. Die now." And thus I plunged my sword into his neck, and with an elaborate death rattle, the World Eater's soul goes back to the Father of Dragonkind. I look back and the Heroes of Sovngarde nod at me and give me their thanks, I nodded and gave a smile back... But Vahl, she was fading. Her time in Sovngarde took its toll, the realm of the dead was trying to claim her as their own. No, not yet. Too long has she carried my burdens, and in kind I shall carry hers. I had picked up the weakened Vahl, and made my way to Tsun. He taught me a shout, that I was to teach Vahl when she awoke, to summon a Hero of Sovngarde in our time of need. I bid him farewell and he told us how he would welcome us once again, at the end of our days. Then he sent us back to the world of the living.

With Vahl in tow, I found myself back at High Hrothgar. I was greeted by Paarthunax and Odahviing who gave Vahl and I their thanks. Paarthunax shared with us, his intent to teach the other Dov "The Way of the Voice" a noble path, but a difficult one. Odahviing on the other hand, had given himself to us. He would serve Vahl and answer her Thu'um should she call for his assistance. Then I made my way home. As I was walking, an object fell out of Vahl's pouch. A device... I pressed it and a box was summoned right before me... I wonder what it was... Perhaps some sort of portable outhouse? I walked inside, carrying Vahl, and to my surprise it was bigger on the inside... Plastered on the wall were the letters T.A.R.D.I.S... What could that possibly mean? But in the center of the room was a series of switches... On a whim, I pulled one and the box quaked as if it was flying through the air. It then stopped. I walked out of the box, and to my amazement, we were back on Solstheim and in front of Vahl's residence. I was immediately greeted by Farkas, who was concerned for Vahl's current state. He is a faithful man, and I handed Vahl over to Farkas and he took her to their bedroom to give Vahl some much needed rest. The others looked at me and congratulated me for slaying Alduin. Why me? Vahl is the real hero here... Lydia shook my hand, Hulk patted me on my back and so on and so forth. Until we came to Frea. She looked at me with longing eyes, and as if on impulse she struck me with her hand, and as I fell to the floor over this unanticipated action, Frea caught me. She embraced me and in a gentle whisper, she uttered but two words "Thank you." The others saw it fit to throw a celebration in the name of the Dragonborn, in honor of the good fight and to living to fight another day. I was never one for such gatherings, so I retreated to my quarters to meditate and reflect on the day's events. And then I heard it again, the voice of Venturian. Once again he murmured the words "That is all for this time..." But this time, I closed my eyes, smiled and said out loud "Indeed."

Now, my part in this tale is over... But I don't think I am ready to meet you again just yet Vahlok. I think I'll stay around a little longer. Vahl needs me as her second and I must be there for her. Bear with me friend, we will meet again and share stories as we had once before. We've got a lot of catching up to do and I would like to take my time...

We'll have all eternity to do so...

                                                                       The End? Perhaps...
At the end of Miraak and Vahl's quest, the earth will quake and the heavens will be shattered...
